The Company is licensed in the Cayman Islands and
is managed by Marsh Management Services (Cayman) Ltd. Captive
Resources LLC provides consulting services in the United States.
Columbus reinsurers risks from the policy issuing insurance
company, American International Group, a recognized “A+” rated carrier that is
licensed to provide coverage in the United States. The types of
coverage reinsured by Columbus are Workers’ Compensation,
Automobile and General Liability.
Each shareholder is entitled to appoint a director. Each shareholder, regardless of premium size, has one vote.
A simple majority governs. The captive’s management strength lies in the strong committee structure and
individual involvement of all directors during semi-annual meetings, held in the Cayman Islands and other
locations outside of the United States.
Shareholders are encouraged to attend all
Columbus meetings and actively participate in committee sessions.
The Committees and their primary responsibilities are:
Executive Committee -
Comprised of officers and committee chairpersons. The focus of
this committee is to develop long-range plans for the company,
based on strategic analysis.
Underwriting Committee -
Advises the Board of desirable risks to be assumed and ensures
that the assumed risks are adequately underwritten.
Risk Control Committee -
Set loss control goals for its members, review loss control
reports, and works with members to meet the required loss
control goals of the Company.
Finance Committee -
Reviews the annual audited statements and the semi-annual unaudited financial statements,
and advises the Board on policies for the investment of the Company's assets.
Membership Development Committee
- Assists in educating prospective new members about
Columbus and the benefits of ownership.
